Fremont, CA - .com Solutions Inc. releases Installgen 1.61.

Version 1.61 of Installgen generates the scripts required to automate the installation of Oracle 8.1.7 databases on Windows NT/2000. The installation procedures implemented by Installgen include the installation of Oracle patch 8.1.7.4.1. Standard and Enterprise Editions of Oracle 8.1.7 are supported as part of the automated installation procedures.

With the introduction of Installgen 1.61, Oracle database administrators now have the ability to automate many of the migration tasks involved in migrating between Oracle 8i and 9i database versions. Installgen generates scripts which are optimized for each Oracle version and OS platform. Therefore DBAs no longer have to waste days of valuable time rewriting existing database build, maintenance or backup scripts.

Standby database scripts scripts consist of a series of Perl programs providing an automated installation process for setup and maintenance of standby configurations. These scripts also include code providing a workaround for Oracle bug id# 878554 during standby database instantiation. This bug may cause ORA-12705 errors under various conditions while using RMAN and was not officially resolved until Oracle 9.2.0.

Installgen is available in two editions, a Standard and Enterprise Edition. Installgen - Standard Edition provides a 3 user license with an unlimited number of database servers. The Enterprise Edition provides a worldwide site license for an unlimited number of users and database servers. The Enterprise edition license also includes the Perl source code allowing user customization of the generated output files.

Customers holding a current subscription, may upgrade at no charge to Installgen 1.61 by simply downloading the latest version from the Licensed Software Downloads page.
